This was probably a 2.5 star book to me. The first half of the book was pretty good. Then, about halfway through, there is some kind of acid trip thing and the plot of the book is just a hot mess. After about 40 pages of weirdness, Dick returns to the plot at last and comes to a moderately satisfying ending. I knew when I signed up for a Dick book that there was going to be some weirdness but holy crap. Quite strange but more than that...boring. I can live with weird but boring is unforgivable. Thankfully, the boring acid trip portion was fairly short. I do love Philip K. Dick. many of his novels are just awesome, his short stories are often brilliant. This particular novel I would not suggest to anyone but a Dick completist.
