Very fast read. Unfortunately not nearly as entertaining as the first of the Travis McGee series, Deep Blue Good-by. It's still an entertaining enough book, but the series is already headed the wrong direction and that's a bad omen. This one is set in New York and McGee appears to hate New York so perhaps the series will get better on its return to Florida. I already have A Purple Place for Dying, The Turquoise Lamentand The Empty Copper Seaon my TBR shelf (library book sales, among the greatest/worst things that have ever happened to me). I am sure I will at least try the next in the series (Purple Place) and hope things go in the right direction. 3/5 and a weak 3 at that.
